At Nomad Chefs, we feel strongly about providing a trusted community between us, the chefs and the clients. Having a private chef in your house for the first time can seem daunting. You are inviting a stranger into your house for a night and you are putting a great deal of trust in them to deliver good quality food to you and your guests.  To help put your mind at ease when booking one of our private chefs I thought it would be useful to write a blog explaining the different procedures our chefs have to go through in order to become part of the Nomad Community.

The service of a private chef makes it possible to organise a meal in the comfort of your own home, without any organisational constraints. It lets you  enjoy the company of your guests, whether the meal takes place with family, friends or business relations. Our chefs take care of everything; purchasing the ingredients, preparing the meal in your kitchen, the plated service and then tidying up the kitchen before leaving. Entertaining at home has never been so simple, pleasant and delicious.

It would ruin your evening as a host if you were constantly worried about having a stranger in your home for the evening, not knowing who they are or where they have come from. Therefore, at Nomad Cooks, we take many steps to ensure that all our chefs are vetted, well trained and, showcase friendly service and manners.

Our Star Chef Programme allows hosts to pick from Nomad’s top-rated chefs. Any of our chefs can become a Star Chef by consistently offering exceptional service. You can also check chef profiles for previous reviews which strengthens chef credibility and helps you as hosts to know what service they have provided previously.

Our chefs:

Nomad Chefs offers a simple, intuitive and bespoke service allowing you to securely book any of our professional private chefs available in London, in just a few clicks. Chefs on Nomad Cooks are all hand-picked through a strict validation process. All of our Chefs are insured and meet all required food hygiene and safety standards, so that you can enjoy total piece of mind, whether it is for a seated dinner, a canape party, or a corporate event. Furthermore, Nomad Cooks only works with professional private chefs with extensive background and experience in high-end restaurants and catering companies.

Nomad Chef's partner chefs are, first of all, creative enthusiasts. They choose to carry out this activity in order to have the freedom to create new experiences for each event, which is not the case in the traditional restaurant business. The expertise level (and therefore the price) varies across all the chefs. Some of them come from Michelin-starred restaurants, others have freshly graduated from culinary schools or are simply looking for a career change and the opportunity to dedicate themselves to their passion for cooking.

You can read a biography and some responses to our questions on each chef’s profile (on the profile page- for example Chef John Penman). The photos will provide you with an idea of their culinary style. In order to learn more about a chef, do not hesitate to contact us.

Onboarding process:

Apart from us just telling you how great our chefs are, they have to go through a strict onboarding process to be able to join the Nomad Community. Firstly, their application isn’t accepted if they aren’t DBS checked and if they don’t have a level 2 food safety certificate.

As part of the onboarding process the chefs make an initial application through our website where their CV is thoroughly checked by our head of chef operations. Next they take part in an interview to test for personable skills, affability, and overall fit for the Nomad Community.

If they are successful they have to complete a booking within 3 weeks of application and receive a 4.8* review in this booking in order to be fully accepted onto the platform. They also have to agree to the chef terms and conditions which include our code of conduct. This states that as a part of their agreement, they have responsibility to act in a reasonable fashion. If you have any complaints about a chef then please get in contact with us straight away.

Hopefully this will have given you some extra confidence when hiring a private chef and I hope you thoroughly enjoy the experience when you book a private chef through us, I know you will!
